SBM Mentoring 2020/21 – Mentor Registration
Many thanks for your interest in becoming a Mentor with the School of Business & Management (SBM), Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). We are currently recruiting mentors for our next round, which is taking place from October 2020 to April 2021 (6 months).
This coming cohort will run slightly differently to previous cohorts due to social distancing. Though we hope that things will improve by the end of the year no doubt there will still be social restrictions in place.
Previously we have had a launch event at the start of the programme, this was a great opportunity to network with other mentors, students and QMUL staff. At the event mentors were introduced to their mentees and would have their first 1-2-1, they would complete a mentoring agreement which would outline the terms of their mentoring relationship.
Unfortunately, for this cohort we will not hold a launch event. Instead you will receive an e-mail introducing you to your mentee and the mentoring agreement will be completed in your first meeting.
All 1-2-1’s can be done virtually via Microsoft teams, skype, phone etc. If the restriction relaxes then please meet face-to-face, we will follow and advise in line with government guidelines.
Key Dates for Mentoring:
All new Mentors are required to attend an induction webinar on either Wednesday 7th October 12-1pm or Thursday 8th October 1-2pm (see question 8 to select a session). The induction will provide you with an introduction to Mentoring, as well as advice and guidance for supporting your mentee throughout the six-month period. In addition, you will be able to ask the Mentoring team any questions you have about how the scheme works and what your role as a mentor entails.
(Please let me know if you can’t make any of these dates)
Once you have completed the registration form, further details of the induction webinar will be sent to you via email. Please note, the information you provide on the form is not shared with your assigned mentee, it will only be used for matching purposes.
If you have any questions about the Mentoring scheme, or require support with the registration process, please email Sonia.email@example.com
We look forward to welcoming you on board the programme!
